Welcome To The Papillion Creek
Watershed Partnership Website
The Papillion Creek Watershed
Partnership formed to address our watershed’s critical water quality and
flood prevention needs. Our watershed connects and joins our communities,
encompassing 402 square miles and more than one-third of Nebraska’s
population.
The Partnership is comprised
of 11 local governments that are wholly or partially in the Papillion Creek
Watershed. Bellevue, Boys Town, Gretna, La Vista, Omaha,
Papillion, Ralston, Douglas County, Sarpy County and the Papio-Missouri
River Natural Resources District have an inter-local cooperative agreement
to work together as the Partnership. The northern part of the watershed is
in Washington County, a jurisdiction not participating in the Partnership.
The guiding principles of
the Partnership are cooperation, community participation and comprehensive
watershed planning. The Partnership works through an open process of looking
at our communities’ needs and building consensus for solutions. Open
meetings have and will continue to be held to gather public input. The 11
government bodies each decide independently to adopt common policies.
The City of Omaha
has posted a draft guidance document titled
Post Construction Stormwater
Planning. This document is meant to help development and
redevelopment meet the requirements of their recently amended Stormwater
Ordinance Chapter 32 of the Omaha Municipal Code.
**Documents and presentations from the September 25, 2008 Post Construction
Stormwater Management Workshop "Designing for the Future" will be posted on
the Publications Page of this website.**
